I love the food network. It’s so wonderful (and such a terrible time suck) 🙂 The recipes on Food Network.com haven’t failed me yet! This was the first recipe I made by Alex Guamaschelli. Now, she’s pretty much a rock star in my book.
We made the cake for a gathering we had a few months back. Everyone loved it. The cake was moist but still fluffy & the frosting was out of this world. Very unique.
You can get the recipe here.
A few things to keep in mind…
You want to eat it day one if possible. The frosting kind of ‘breaks down’ a bit on day two. The sugar seems to separate out and you can feel the granules in the frosting. Still yummy, but not quite as appealing to the pallet!
We didn’t take the “instant” temperature of the frosting. We don’t have an instant read thermometer, so we just kept a candy thermometer in the bowl till we reached a high temp. Honestly, I don’t think we reached 140, which might be why we saw some separation on day 2… 🙂
